What is PayPal?

PayPal is an online payment system that makes paying for things online and sending and receiving money safe and secure. It has over 360 million active users in more than 200 countries. PayPal serves as a middleman between your bank/credit card and merchants, and keeps your payment information secure.

PayPal also offers accounts that allow businesses to accept PayPal payments online as well as credit cards and debit cards online or in person, even if your customers don’t have PayPal accounts. Service-based businesses and professionals can also send invoices to clients and receive PayPal online payments securely.

Our new PayPal integration allows merchants to connect your PayPal account to OrderMetrics via API. Through this integration, OrderMetrics will routinely pull transaction fees from PayPal. These fees will be used in combination with the customer's other data to provide a more complete picture of business profitability and other important metrics.

How can you access the PayPal Integration?

Note: customers must have a PayPal business account in order to successfully integrate with OrderMetrics.

  1. Sign into OrderMetrics

  2. From the OrderMetrics dashboard, click “Data” in the left-hand navigation

  3. On the Manage Integrations page, scroll down to PayPal and click “connect”

  4. On the PayPal API credentials page, enter your PayPal client ID and secret.

  5. Select which PayPal account you want to connect to OrderMetrics.

  6. All done! The data will fully sync in a few minutes.

How to find PayPal Client ID and Secret:

  1. Log into your PayPal account

  2. Click “Developer” in the top right-hand corner

  3. On the PayPal Developer screen, hover over your profile in the top right and click “Dashboard”

  4. At the top of the My apps & Credentials screen, click the “Live” button

  5. Click “Create App”

  6. Type “OrderMetrics” in the “App Name” field and click “Create App”

  7. Scroll down and click the checkbox for “Transaction Search” in the settings, then click “save” ( This is a crucial step for OrderMetrics to connect to your PayPal and show your transactions)

  8. Your Client ID and Secret can be found under “Live App Credentials”
